understanding your craving for a treat

a new study* has shown that when you try to satisfy your craving for a specific treat with a lesser treat you will fail and be disappointed. so, if you are craving chocolate chip cookies, rather than eating a bowl of mini marshmallows or even worse, a piece of hard candy, make the chocolate chip cookies. oh, and thinking that a hand full of chocolate chips will do the trick just adds insult to injury.

*i have been working on this study for quite some time but haven't received the funding to make it legit: set up a control group, record data... things like that. so it's not official yet but it might as well be.

I'm convinced. No official data is necessary for me. I never do diets of any sort. I just jog so I can feed my craving. It works out pretty good.

I agree with you. And my problem is I just substitute and then end up eating more! I can't wait to see your baby!

I will be part of your study when you find the funding. It is SO TRUE!Every time I try to satisfy a craving for something with fewer calories, I just end up wasting calories or fat grams, not to mention time trying to search for that something to satiate the craving. I hear ya Kel!

You speak the truth here, kel. I am sure you will have no problem with your study's repeatability.

And you know what I constantly crave these days? Those awesome sweat rolls you posted about. Quick like a bunny rabit and oh so delicious. I just crave the lovely smell that fills my home when they bake!

I'd better go make some...

Research shows that prolonged study periods with just one participant can be just as or even more valid than those studies with more participants done in a short time period.*

I must agree, everytime I enjoy a handful of choco chips I think to myself, "Gee, some chocolate chip cookies would be delicious."

*This statement is supported by one participant who has participated in several prolonged studies of her own.

Kel - it's me, your cousin, Liza. I just read through your entire blog - and I think you guys are having an awesome time. What a fun life. I remember when you guys came to London, on your way to Scotland, ever so many years ago and graced us with your presence. I have some vague memory of English taking notes of what books we were reading. And I thought to myself, "these guys know how to suck the marrow out of the bones of life." I love to see that you are still sucking that marrow!

Things I loved: the ghost family Halloween - so cool! Mr. Kruger's/ Wonka's crazy Xmas. (All kidding aside, that movie is weird, yo!) And all your MANY adventures.

But best of all is that little Ash! HOLY CUTENESS OVERLOAD! She is a little YOU, Kel. With a healthy splash of your mommy. What a little darling! I can't believe I haven't met her yet. She is so dang cute.

Please post about this year's Johnson Film Fest, por favor. That is when you get the chance - I know you are a busy woman -what with all these studies you've been trying to find funding for.

You guys rock, and quite frankly, I love ya!

Keep it fun and keep it real and I will keep on reading!

PS If you see Zina, will you give her a hug from me? Thanks!
